Electronic Tattoo by Philips

Watch the commercial for yourself...

Tattoos and physical mutilation are amongst the oldest forms of personal expression and identity. Subcultures have used tattoos as a form of self representation; a visual language communicating personality and status. Philips Design examined the growing trend of extreme body adornment like tattoos, piercing, implants and scarring.

The Electronics Tattoo film expresses the visual power of sensitive technology applied to the human body. The film subtly leads the viewer through the simultaneous emotional and aesthetic transformations between two lovers.

lovely concept. if only the real deal were as painless. as a good part of my body is covered, subtly, with tatts, i can tell you, it ain't this painfree, but it's worth it.

I actually like the pain of getting a tattoo...

you like pain??? i got my forearms done, despite getting a sunburn the day before... the only time i raised my fist on my tattoo artist. no!! i didn't strike him, but it came close, involuntarily. the armband around my right bicep, the lines done but still needing to be filled out, interrupted by a power blackout in the sector for an hour & a half, giving it ample time to swell, & yet... i had the damn thing finished the same day, no matter what. so, you dig pain?!? let's talk!!!!!
(BTW: as far as tatts go, the oddest experience was when i got tattooed over my solar plexus. not painful, but just such a weird feeling, i kept sucking my gut in & patrick kept pursuing me with the needle. a fun day, i tell ya!!)

When getting tattooes, you are forced to relax through the pain. Down to the muscular level, you must stay still or the artist can mess up. Something cool happens when you accept the pain...

I wouldn't consider myself a masochist, because I do not like the humiliation factor. But I am a fan of mixing pleasure and pain.

Something magickal takes place when you're tortured and worshipped simultaneously...

well... i am... a masochist!!
:D~
a pushy bottom actually.
a nightmare for "tops" who take themselves way too seriously, as i have some dominant traits, but prefer to bottom. but to surrender to pain & let the endorphens wash me over, for a creative endeavor is indeed intoxicating. my body can attest to that. so can my tattoo artist. we are such different/opposite guys, & yet, there was some kind of communion during all of those hours we spent together.
:)~
